We're back with another installment, this time with one of my favorite current running series, The Boys. I reviewed the first two trades, and I've now caught up to the series by reading the other trades that have been released, but I can't say enough how good Garth Ennis is on this series. He's always been one of my favorite writers of comic books, with classic series like Hitman, his run on the Punisher, and of course Preacher. Hit the jump for the ATALFC.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - We3 #2
So through the time that we've been dating, I've been slowly convincing Jesse to read comic books. This past Christmas I bought Jesse We3, by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly, because it's self-contained and incredibly moving. See, I'm often down on Grant Morrison, but it's only because compared to the work he's done in the past his work now is not nearly as good as it once was. But just because he is currently not putting out his best stuff does not mean that we can't enjoy his great comic books anymore. And with that, let's jump right into the awesome line from We3.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - Watchmen #12
I finally watched the Ultimate Cut Watchmen film, and I was sorry to see that the major problems were still completely intact. And not only were the biggest problems not rectified, but in the case of the Tales of the Black Freighter and some of the other additions all it does is make it abundently clear that Zak Snyder was just not smart enough to direct this film. He didn't really grasp what was going on in most of the scenes it felt like, and that was most clear in how botched the ending was. I'm not talking about the lack of the space alien (or the "squid" as people call it) but what was missing was all emotional impact of the big event that happened, as the deaths were rendered almost meaningless by showing only an empty and smoking crater, but also the unneccesary changes to one of the most beautiful moments of the book. So today, I'm going to show you the scene that always stuck with me from Watchmen, probably my favorite from this last chapter of one of the greatest comics. Hit the jump for it.

Merry Christmas!! I hope that all of you are having a great holiday and no matter how or what you are celebrating I sincerely hope that you are happy and spending today with people you love. 2009 has been a great year for me, not the least of which has to do with this blog that I started only three months ago, so if you are reading this, than thank you so much for doing so. I love writing this blog and I'm definitely in this for the long haul, and I really do appreciate all of you for joining me in this so Thank You. For Chirstmas today I'm going to be sharing my two favorite quotes from this film. Enjoy.
Harry Bailey (surrounded by the townspeople): A toast to my big brother George: The richest man in town.
Clarence: Remember George, No man is a failure who has friends.
Merry Christmas everybody.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - Pt. 12
I know, I know. I haven't done a post for ATALFC in several weeks, but it's not like I just flat out have not been posting anything in that time period. I introduced THREE new regular features; Trade Secrets, Put It Out To Pasture, and Links You Should Know; plus reporting several comic book news items and doing a sports edition of Windy City Mumblin', as well as a review of the great film Up in the Air. Not only that, but we also debuted our new contributor to the site with Pete's first week of Comic Reviews up (I named the feature for the first week, but I don't really think the name's going to stick). So I'm not going to be too apologetic since that is a lot of content that has gone up since our last post for this feature, but I will say that it is probably going to be a bit of time before you get the next installment after this one. First, I am working on something that if it happens and gets posted, which I do not want to jinx by talking about it before I get it done, then it will be a crowning achievement in my already beyond my expectations foray into internet writing. Needless to say, if it does get done this week and gets put up, you will know about it because I will tell everybody. Literally. EVERYBODY. Also, I'm going to be putting out in the next couple weeks before New Year's my look ahead to my most anticipated things of 2010, and also a recap of 2009 where I am going to chronicle things like Best Comic, new character, hero, villain, and others, and a big Op/Ed piece on how Captain America and Batman have followed the same exact story-arc in recent years and why that might be. Plus, I might end up doing a post that is just a look ahead to 2010 for the blog itself, since next year will feature some really exciting stuff for Event Fatigue. Anyways, click the link for the Awesome Line From Comics.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - Pt. 11 - GIANT SIZE!
Well, as promised here is a Giant-Sized edition of All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics. I figure that I might as well make it up to you guys for the fact that since it's Thanksgiving I will probably not do much, or really any, posting to the blog this weekend. But who knows, cause I do have some ideas for posts and if I get bored of laying around doing nothing (which I never get sick of doing), I might end up cranking some things out. Alright, hit the jump for the last story arc by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday on Astonishing X-Men.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics- Pt. 9
First and foremost, Newsarama has posted the teaser trailer for the upcoming Smallville TV movie featuring the JSA. Holy God. This looks all kinds of awesome. I was initially skeptical, even with Geoff Johns writing it, but the more I hear about it and from these clips it looks more and more like Johns is sticking close to the way JSA is in the comics, especially with that last shot in the clip. Hellz yeah. Anyway, hit the jump for another awesome line from Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon and John Cassady.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics Pt. 8
So I took some time off from this feature in order to focus on my Top 100 movies list, so we're back now, diving right into one of my favorite comic books run ever, Joss Whedon and John Cassady's Astonishing X-Men run. Hit the Jump for the lines.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - Pt. 6
Today something really terrible happened to a comic book character that I have always liked and in fact was one of the first characters that I really liked and followed when I started reading comics years and years ago. In a couple days, I am going to post a big piece on what happened, but until then I'm to cheer myself up by keeping on the trend of posting some bad-ass lines from comics, today focusing on one of my all-time favorite bad-asses, Tommy Monaghan, Hitman. Hit the jump for the lines.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics- Pt. 5

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - Pt. 4
First off, I would like to apologize to the Ninja Assassain movie. I've been complaining since all ninjas are assassains, so the title was stupid and repetitive. But, it turns out according to one of the trailers the main character is a former ninja who is now assassinating ninjas, hence he is a Ninja Assassain. I apologize. Anyway, as promised, we're taking a break from the touchy-feely stuff that I've been covering recently and jumping right into some kick-ass lines from comics. Today, one of the best lines from Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch's run on the Ultimates. Hit the jump for the lines.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics pt. 3
Hey all, sorry I haven't been able to post anything in a while, my brother was sworn in as a lawyer on Thursday so I was spending time with the family and I had two big auditions this morning that I had to prepare for also, so busy busy. Anyway, I'm back with a new post in my feature of the best lines from comics, today focusing on one of my favorite mini-series in the last several years, Identity Crisis. Hit the jump.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics pt. 2
Continuing the first regular feature of my blog so far, showcasing some of my favorte lines from comic books. Yesterday I focused on my all-time favorite single issue from any comic, Watchmen #6, and today I'm going to continue with another one of my favorite issues ever, Astro City #1/2. Astro City was a comic created by Kurt Busiek, a fantastic comic book writer, about a city that was filled with all sorts of different superheroes, most of them archetypes for characters like Superman, Batman, Spider-man, the Fantastic Four and so on. But Astro City #1/2 was far and away the best issue of the whole run and was based almost solely on a regular citizen from Astro City.
