So I'm only stopping in briefly tonight, my good friend has been sick with Mono for weeks and relatively isolated from people. So instead of blogging tonight I'm going to go and cheer her up. I do hope you'll forgive me. But, I do have some quick sports thoughts for you, hopefully that will tide you over, and I'll be back tomorrow with an Awesome Line from Comics and I should be able to finish my Put it Out to Pasture on Bendis' Avengers run tomorrow also. The Royal Rumble!!
Tonight, is the first time I'm watching the Royal Rumble in almost a decade. I'm actually really excited about this, cause no matter what wrestling is like at the time, the Rumble is always entertaining. Even when it's bad, which the current WWE is not completely bad, the Rumble was still great. So, because I'm excited and cause I don't honestly know that much about what's going on, I'm going to do my predictions for tonight based on almost nothing. Let's do it, shall we?

Single Issue Spotlight - 1/30
So this week was a fairly eventful one comic book wise, as Justice League: Shitty for Justice and the new line-up of Justice League #41 debuted in addition to other books that were actually good as opposed to those I've just mentioned. With Peter's reviews forthcoming, I'm going to focus on my favorite issue that I read this week, an issue which was very good: Green Lantern #50. I'm going to be talking about this book in some detail, so for safeties sake, I'm going to introduce our newest character here at Event Fatigue: The Spoiler Pirate! Take it away, matey!
Terrific. Hit the jump for the review.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - Watchmen #12
I finally watched the Ultimate Cut Watchmen film, and I was sorry to see that the major problems were still completely intact. And not only were the biggest problems not rectified, but in the case of the Tales of the Black Freighter and some of the other additions all it does is make it abundently clear that Zak Snyder was just not smart enough to direct this film. He didn't really grasp what was going on in most of the scenes it felt like, and that was most clear in how botched the ending was. I'm not talking about the lack of the space alien (or the "squid" as people call it) but what was missing was all emotional impact of the big event that happened, as the deaths were rendered almost meaningless by showing only an empty and smoking crater, but also the unneccesary changes to one of the most beautiful moments of the book. So today, I'm going to show you the scene that always stuck with me from Watchmen, probably my favorite from this last chapter of one of the greatest comics. Hit the jump for it.

Links You Should Know - 1/26
Hey all, I'm just stopping in quick tonight. If you haven't had a chance to, check out Pete's reviews of last week's comics cause he covers a ton of books. Anyway, for today's edition of Links You Should Know, I'm putting in a little comic book news out there for you, with the story curtesy of CBR's Robot 6 blog that DC is going to be offering a new Green Lantern ring and a Flash ring with their Brightest Day books this spring. I think the ring promotion was the best idea that they had in a long time, so the more than can do with stuff like that the better. Check it out.
Event Fatigue Comic Book Reviews - 1/20
Hello readers of Event Fatigue. Sorry that I haven’t had any reviews up in the last few weeks, but I’ve been away from the comic world since the beginning of the New Year. That said, I have three weeks worth of reviews coming your way. I am, however making a change to my reviews. My biggest gripe with the comic book industry is the $3.99 price tag for monthly books. My way of addressing this problem will be to get rid of my 1-10 scale of rating a book will from now on state the price of the book and whether or not the book was worth the money or not. Now then on to the reviews.

All-Time Awesome Lines From Comics - 1/21
I'm bringing this feature back! I always liked doing this, plus it gives me a chance to spotlight some of my favorite comic books and comic writers. Today, I'm going to focus on the latter, since the series I'm featuring today wasn't very good. Hit the jump for the lines.

New Spider-Man Director Hired! Fandom ablaze with muttering!
CBR reported this yesterday, and it is now confirmed by Sony, but the director of (500) Days of Summer, Marc Webb, is the new director of the Spider-Man film franchise. Webb is signed to do 3 films, all reportedly set in high school, with a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Rundown) for the first film. Here's what the producers had to say about the hire:
At its core, Spider-Man is a small, intimate human story about an everyday teenager that takes place in an epic super-human world. The key for us as we sought a new director was to identify filmmakers who could give sharp focus to Peter Parker’s life. We wanted someone who could capture the awe of being in Peter’s shoes so the audience could experience his sense of discovery while giving real heart to the emotion, anxiety, and recklessness of that age and coupling all of that with the adrenaline of Spider-Man’s adventure. We believe Marc Webb is the perfect choice to bring us on that journeyI do appreciate the fact that they realize that it is not all action and that a big part of the life of Peter Parker is the personal stuff, as he has probably the most heart-ache of any super-hero. I enjoyed (500) Days of Summer, and I think that it did show that Webb is capable of capturing the quiet moments very well. My concern is the action, the stuff that has always made Spider-Man head and shoulders above all the other superheroes. Webb hasn't really directed much of anything except this one movie and a couple music videos. Is that enough of a pedigree for the premier Marvel superhero? I know this, if Marvel Studios controlled this property, he wouldn't have gotten the job. But I think he deserves a chance to bring the emotion to a high school Parker, and I'm definitely willing to give him that chance.

Spidey's Advocate - Spider-man 4 Now a Re-boot of the Franchise
It's official, after initially just delaying the start of Spider-man 4, Sam Raimi has left the franchise that he started, and Tobey Maguire is going with him. Announced today, and confirmed on IGN, Spider-man 4 is now going to be a reboot of the franchise with Peter Parker back in high school. Man this sucks, right? Wrong. This is probably the best news possible in this situation. Yeahbuwha? I'm serious. I think now that Raimi and Maguire are gone, there is finally hope that Spider-man 4 is not going to suck. Hit the jump for the reasons.

2009: A Year in Songs
So, I'm blantantly stealing this idea from my friend Nicole, but it's okay because I am now acknowledging that I'm stealing it from her. The show that I'm acting in, A Look Through Our Eyes, opened this weekend to two really good perfomances, but today I am just wiped out so I'm just going to make a quick post here. 2009 was an interesting year for me. It started off with me being almost completely miserable as I was essentially a nomad and was stuck working in a two person team with a heinous bitch (she got replaced a month later with one of the cheeriest and nicest person I've probably ever met). Then it ended with me working a 9 to 5 office job while acting, writing, and operating my own comic book blog out of an awesome apartment. So I've come a long way baby. Time to recap this past in terms of songs. I picked 12 songs that sum up my past year, but they also are awesome songs too so if you like them you should iTunes them or get the CD. Hit the jump for the list.

Might Be Out of Touch for a Little While...
Hey gang, so I am acting in a show this weekend here in Chicago called A Look Through Our Eyes. I'm really excited about the performances for the show as I feel that it is a very good and incredibly moving piece. What this means, however, is that I'm going to be in tech tonight and doing performances this weekend, so I won't have any time to post new stuff to the blog until Sunday. But after this weekend, I'm planning on kicking things off for the blog with a Trade Secrets on Chew vol. 1, a Put it Out to Pasture on Bendis's Avengers run, and a return of the All-time Awesome Lines from Comics spotlighting one of favorite on-going series The Walking Dead. So until then, I thought I would help tide you over with this screenshot from the hilarious blog Failbooking, from the people who brought us Failblog.org, and a link to their new site so you can go on there and ROTFL to your hearts content (I don't know what that means, I don't get most internet speak). Links You Should Know
April 16th - 18th, 2010. That is the opening weekend for something that I hope becomes an annual tradition here in Chicago, the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo (More commonly known as C2E2). C2E2 is going to be at McCormick Place this year, and this is the guest list that has been announced so far: Alex Ross, Geoff Johns, Steve McNiven, Steve Epting, Ethan Van Schiver, Mike Mignola, Mike Perkins, and many others. One of my favorite writers of comics all-time (Johns) and my two favorite artists (McNiven and Ross) are all at the same comic-con, which equals me spending lots of money. Anyway, it is today's Link You Should Know because I am super-excited about this and I think that you should be too.
The Chicago Bears: Committed to Mediocrity
*Warning Angry Rant* I wanted to write this before I calmed down, since I know that when I do I'll manage to talk myself into believing that somehow the Bears have a chance to be great next season, when really the Bears have just made a move that guarantees a losing record in 2010 already. That's right. Lovie Smith is back next season as the Bears Head Coach. Hit the jump for the bile.
My Show Opens on Friday!
Hey, so this is just a quick and unabashed plug, but if you live in or around the Chicago area and enjoy theater, I figured I'd go ahead and post this here too. I am appearing in A Look Through Our Eyes at Gorlla Tango Theater this weekend, January 8th and 9th at 10pm, and next Saturday, January 16th at 6pm. The play is a monologue show about 9/11 that deals with real people's reactions, thoughts, feelings about September 11th and the events that happened after it. The cast is great and I've really enjoyed working on this show, so if you like my blog than you'll love watching me act! Come see it!
